Why are the pelvic floor muscles so important?

May 8, 2018

The pelvic floor is a group of muscles that attach to the bones at the bottom of your pelvis. These muscles effectively form a hammock across the base of your pelvis to support the internal organs above it. Having strong pelvic floor muscles gives you proper control over your bladder and bowels, but that’s not their only role.

Strong pelvic floor muscles also improve and stabilize the hip joints. The further assist in maintaining correct posture.  This muscle group act as a lymphatic pump for the pelvis and are a crucial part of the spine’s stabilization.

You get the picture: They’re important. When these muscles are  not strengthened your spine  is vulnerable to injury and mis-alignment.
