CORE CORE CORE

May 10, 2018

This word used over and over again in the fitness world:
Core training,

Core strength,

Core activation,

Core exercise,

Core moves etc.
But it begs the question, "what muscles define the  bodies Core?" "What is the function of the core?" "Why do we need to activate and and strengthen it?"
Answer:
Your core is a series of muscles that work together to stabilize your upper, mid and lower spine. Threading through each vertebra of your spine is your spinal cord.
Where your spine ends (Pelvic Floor) is where most of the dysfunction starts.
Why Is the Pelvic floor so important to the Bodies Core?
Answer:
The pelvic floor is a group of muscles that attaches to the bones at the bottom of your pelvis. These muscles effectively form a hammock across the base of your pelvis that supports the internal organs above it. Having a strong pelvic floor  gives you proper control over your bladder and bowels. But that’s not their only role. Strong pelvic floor muscles also assist in the stabilization of the hip joints, and assist in maintaining right posture. Also they act as a lymphatic pump for the pelvis.

Why is having a fully activated core so important?

Answer

Think of it this way: Your brain is your bodies computer. Your spinal cord is the Ethernet cable and your nervous system is your server. Any misalignment in the spine is akin to your Ethernet cable being damaged. It will still give your computer a WiFi signal but it will be very weak.
What is the Function of the bodies Core?

Answer

When the spine is aligned all the joints, muscles, tendons and ligaments work together to move the body the way it was designed to move. Alignment through out the whole anatomical chain (head to toe) affords the body to functionally carry load, rotate the joints, breathe, walk, see, hear, digest food and fully vacate the bowels.

Did you know that an activated core assists your bodies venous return?
Blood caries oxygen and O2 brings life to all our cells.

Why is it so important to stabilize your entire spine?

Answer

When your spine is aligned you will move with grace. Misalignment in the spine results in lack of rotation, shallow breathing, neck pain shoulder pain knee pain constipation, etc.
So how do you activate and strengthen your Core?
